The Object of The Preposition

The object of the preposition adalah sebuah benda atau kata ganti benda yang terletak setelah preposisi (kata depan). Beberapa contoh preposisi antara lain : in, at, of, to, by, under, behind, beside, dan on.

Contoh : 

The dog is sleeping under the car.

(The car merupakan the object of the preposition dari kata under).

The name of the girl is Ani.
(The girl merupakan the object of the preposition dari kata of).

 To him the meeting was an important thing.

(Him merupakan the object of the preposition dari kata to).

Apabila di dalam sebuah kalimat terdapat sebuah kata yang merupakan the object of the preposition, maka kata tersebut bukanlah subjek dari kalimat tersebut.

Tentukanlah objek preposisi dari kalimat-kalimat berikut!

1. The ball in the box on the table is very old.
2. The cat under the table is eating the fish on the plate.
3. At 6:00 in the morning the clock on the table behind the door rang.
4. The book is on the table.
5. The black dog is hiding behind the door.
